Join us in the Gallery at South Side Studios for the opening reception of the "Create the Mon" Art Exhibition. 

West Virginia Rivers Coalition and West Virginians for Public Lands invited artists to let the Mon National Forest be their muse. This art exhibit will feature art, in any medium, that captures the beauty, spirit, and magic of The Mon!

Light refreshments will be served. Wine will be available.

Come meet the artists of South Side Studios and see what they are working on. The studio doors will be open and you can see the artists' processes, ask questions, and learn more about how they work.

West Virginia Rivers Coalition will be in the Studios will be in the Studios to share information about their work and about the current exhibition, Create the Mon, in the gallery. West Virginia Artist, Nevada Tribble, will also be there, providing a demonstration of how she makes drawings using her sewing bicycle!

Local musicians will also be providing entertainment!

Visitors can also learn more about the progress of South Side Studios' community space, upcoming classes, projects, and opportunities to engage!

Calling all artists and nature lovers! Whether you are a photographer, painter, poet, or performer, the Mon National Forest is your muse!

South Side Studios featured artist, Shade Black, who's works are on display in the gallery, will be offering a live still-life painting demonstration.

There will be music: local musicians Joe Crites and the Dulcimer Dames will be providing entertainment!

Join us in the Gallery at South Side Studios for the opening reception for artist, Shade Black's gallery show, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Light hors d'oeuvres will be provided and wine will be available.

Shade was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and immigrated to Israel with her family at the age of 11. She began drawing at a very early age and went on to study animation at the Bezalel National Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. While there, she discovered a love for watercolor and oil paint and chose to pivot away from animation towards painting. She met her husband, chainsaw carver Kevin Black, in 2017. They live near Petersburg, WV with their two kids. She can be found painting en plein air or at her home studio, cycling in the area, or visiting chainsaw carving events all over the country with her husband.

Shade will have pieces on display and for purchase at the gallery in South Side Studios from September 20 - October 20th.
